Nova West Laboratory
Nova West Laboratory has played an integral role in the Comeau’s Sea Foods group of operations since 1989 (incorporated 2002). Located in Grosses Coques, Nova Scotia, Nova West Laboratory employs strict compliance testing and quality control criteria across all Comeau’s Sea Foods production lines.
The laboratory’s involvement with everyday operations allows Comeau’s Sea Foods to ensure that health and safety requirements are met. Testing for each of the company’s federally registered fish-processing plants is performed in accordance with regulations set out by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency’s (CFIA) Fish Inspection Program.
Nova West Laboratory supports Comeau’s Sea Foods commitment to quality with ongoing, ‘top-to-bottom’ inspection of every processing operation. That is, all production lines must meet the criteria for the CFIA’s Quality Management Program and Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point.
These programmes confirm the company’s strict adherence to government, company and customer quality specifications. Comeau’s Sea Foods pledges that all products are both in compliance with CFIA regulations and consistently superior in quality.
Nova West Laboratory is now voluntarily seeking additional accreditation as a continued commitment to customer and public safety. The laboratory intends to expand its testing regime to include new fresh water standards.
