Sea Life Fisheries

Sea Life Fisheries joined the Comeau’s Sea Foods family in 1998 and is located in East Pubnico, Nova Scotia. No longer a new addition, the division is now a leading international supplier of prepared and frozen herring products.

The division processes frozen herring butterfly fillets and herring roe. Sea Life Fisheries also produces industrial products such as herring meal and oil, predominantly for the aquaculture industry.

Sea Life Fisheries enjoys a significant domestic market for its herring meal and oil products. Foreign sales of specialty herring fillets and roe steer the division’s export activity primarily to Germany and Japan.

The company’s processing plants are federally registered fish-processing facilities as are all Comeau’s Sea Foods facilities. Quality Management Program requirements are strictly enforced.

As a long-term commitment to product excellence and innovation, Sea Life Fisheries has recently renovated its processing facility, and features ultra-modern equipment, semi-automatic herring feeders, cutters, and grading systems. Investment in first-rate tools is an example of Sea Life Fisheries’ assurance that the division’s finished product will surpass customers’ expectations.
